Simon George - Misguided Paintings

As well as working as an artist, Simon George is a multi-award winning film director / executive producer working in documentary, drama, music film, and interactive. He is currently Creative Director of H&VE, a major film company co-owned by United Talent Agency. He also plays bass in metal bands.

 Simon studied fine art sculpture and print-making at Winchester School of Art and at Kingston University. After collaborating on a series of award-winning sound installations with Brain Eno, he entered the film world and made over 200 music videos and live music films, working with artists such as Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Audioslave, Placebo, Stereophonics and Coldplay (which was nominated for a Grammy). His recent film work includes the award-winning ‘Fight The Power: How Hip Hop changed the world’ with Chuck D, 'Noel Gallagher: Out Of The Now’, Netflix’s global #1 smash hits ‘Age of Samurai’ and ‘History 101’, the Emmy award-winning 'WW2 From Space’, and the Emmy award nominated ‘Barbarian’s Rising’.

In lockdown, to cheer up himself and his family and friends, Simon started Misguided Paintings. These unapologetic, vivid, slightly twisted and often hilarious portraits are both a love affair with his heroes, as well as raising questions on the nature of celebrity and our adoration of it. His cast of characters include bucktooth guitar heroes, punk rockers, metal icons, terrible ice skaters, and Royals reincarnated as vampires and zombies.
